We have some exciting kids’ seminars coming soon. On Saturday, October 5th we will be holding two Tonfa seminars. Tonfa (Cha Ru in Korean) is a side-handled baton (here is a video of Sabumnim Espy demonstrating a Tonfa form: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bApgPl7OsSc). Kids will learn the fundamentals of striking and blocking, as well as some really fun, practical drills. The first seminar (1:00-1:45 pm) will be for non-TMAA-student kids ages 7-12. If you know someone who would be interested in this event, have them go to http://kids-seminar.martialartsaustin.com to register (or talk to Mrs. Espy).
The second seminar (2:00-3:30 pm) will go a bit deeper into the material and will be a Bring-A-Buddy event. TMAA students are encouraged to bring a friend to join them in learning and drills. These are super fun events and a great way to introduce a buddy to the TMAA community. This seminar is open to kids 6-12 years old. To register your child and his/her buddy, go to http://buddy.martialartsaustin.com, or talk to Mrs. Espy.
If your child does not have a buddy he/she can get on a waiting list to be paired with another TMAA student. Much of the class will involve fun partnered exercises, so we will need an even number of participants.
All participants for both seminars will receive a free pair of tonfa.
On Saturday, November 2, we will be holding two seminars for nunchucks. The format will be the same as the tonfa seminars (public seminar at 1:00-1:45 pm and Bring-A-Buddy seminar at 2:00-3:45). Online registration has not begun for these seminars yet—we will send out an announcement when it is available. In the meantime, if you want get ahead of the online rush, feel free to talk to Mrs. Espy about getting registered.
All participants to these seminars will get a free pair of foam nunchucks.
A final note: All of these seminars will be strictly limited in size. To ensure your child’s spot, don’t wait—register now!
